Our Association will sorely miss our beloved, LONG term President, Debbie Porter! She had decided to retire from her position as President of our Association Board. Her dedicated care and guardianship of our neighborhood quality and welfare spanned nearly 17 years. The amazing accomplishments she made in those years we will benefit our Association for years to come.
Debbie was involved in projects such as:
*Replacing mailbox units with more secure ones
*Adding signage in different locations. Creek crossings, private neighborhood signs, replacing street signs stolen and our banner out front for meeting date (created by Bill Chekvaula)
*Widening our Brewer entry on Caltrans side
*Pressured Caltrans to add our right turn lane
*Added striping on main roads where traffic issues occur over the middle of the roads
*Drove around neighborhood and evaluated road conditions for maintenance
*Attended relevant county meetings affecting our neighborhood
*Fought on committee to maintain our right to keep our neighborhood roads private for the sake of the road conditions and the safety of our neighborhood
*All while taking care of our daily issues such as wildlife invasions, lost animals, hazards in our community and such
That is only a small sample of her accomplishments during her dedicated service to our Association. She served with passion! Her shoes will be hard to fill!
Thank you Debbie for a service that will be hard to repeat. You have made our neighborhood a better place for our families to enjoy.
Pam Emick
President
The County of Nevada Community Development Agency, Planning Department is considering changing the zoning ordinances to encourage more housing. While it is common knowledge that affordable housing in the County is difficult to find, this is largely an urban problem. The laws, however, will not differentiate between properties in rural developments like ours vs. "in town" properties in Grass Valley and Nevada City.
Of special interest to the residents of Golden Oaks is the support for Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) and Junior Accessory Dwelling Units (JADUs), which could adversely affect the amount of traffic our rural roads are designed to handle.
THERE WILL BE A COMMUNITY WORKSHOP OPEN TO ALL:
WHEN: THURSDAY, JUNE 8, 2023
TIME: 6:00 P.M.
WHERE: AT THE ROOD CENTER, NEVADA CITY.
You can review and comment on the proposed amendments by following this link: https://www.nevadacountyca.gov/3763 . You can also make comments by writing to the address below by 5:00 p.m. by June 9, 2023, although email is preferable.

Some of you may have noticed a new page recently added to the GOA website titled "Members Only Downloads", but have been unable to access it. The reason most members cannot yet access the page is because, up until the last couple of days, it has been under construction and still in the "beta" phase of production.
THERE IS NO CONTENT ON THE MEMBERS ONLY PAGE OTHER THAN AN "UNDER CONSTRUCTION" NOTICE.
In the meanwhile, if you would like to gain access to the new page, please send a request to my website-based email account: admin@goldenoaksassociation.com . Once I have a member's email address and load them into the GOA website contacts database, I can send them an invitation to set up their own passcode. (Useful Hint: Be sure to look in your Spam Folder if you don't see it in your Inbox.) Another way to set up your passcode after I've loaded your email address is to click on the Members Only Downloads page. It will ask you for your email and passcode, which you won't have yet, with a link to reset your passcode. Clicking on the reset the passcode link will walks you through the same process of setting up a passcode as the link in the invitation email. Once you've created a passcode, I recommend that you close and then reopen the Golden Oaks website, at which point you should have access to the private web page after entering your email and passcode.
Thank you for your understanding. I will watch for your email requests and take action on them just as quickly as I am able.
